Transportation
The NYC Department of Education, Office of Pupil Transportation, handles all issues concerning busing, including eligibility. Please get in touch with Mr. Jason Achar, P.S. 51Q’s Transportation Coordinator, at (718) 850-0738. He will find out if your child qualifies for bus service.
If your child does qualify for bus drop-off and pick-up, remember to arrive at your designated bus stop at least 10 minutes before your bus is scheduled to arrive. Please remain on the sidewalk until the bus comes to a complete stop. If you know that you will not be able to be at the bus stop to meet your child, please call the school office by 1:30 p.m. to ensure your child is not put on the bus. Likewise, should the bus company alert us in time that a driver is running late, we will do our best to contact you as soon as possible. Also, please review with your child the following safety rules:
- Children should be buckled once seated, and they should remain seated until the bus comes to a complete stop.
- Only one child will sit on a seat on the bus. Heads, arms, and legs must remain inside the bus at all times.
- Inappropriate behavior on the bus will result in loss of bus privileges.
